Costs
Wind turbines vary in sizes and types of turbines. Today a commercial turbine can cost between $1.2 and $2.6 million dollars. A commercial turbine will power about 4,000 homes. A small farm turbine can cost about $3,000 to $5,000 per kilowatt of capacity. A 10 kilowatt turbine, which can power the average home, can cost around $35,000 to $50,000. The costs of a wind turbine include manufacturing, transportation, installation, and maintenance. Wind turbines have great economics on scale. Since wind turbines are a clean energy resource they do not cause harm to environment other than manufacturing it. Turbines create a lot of energy, they are a clean resource, and do not take up much space so it's a good investment.
